The piano challenge
Think it won't go? Challenge us.
Everyone's been told their piano is stuck for good, too big, too tight, no chance. We hear it every week. And nearly every week, it goes. Go on: give us your worst.
The piano that "can't be moved" almost always can
There's a piano in a lot of Yorkshire front rooms that the family believes is there forever, carried in decades ago, and surely impossible to get out. A previous mover took one look and shook their head. The doorway's too narrow, the stairs turn the wrong way, there's a wall in the way. So it stays, gathering dust, because nobody will take it on.
We love those jobs. With grand slippers and skids, aluminium ramps, lifting belts, trolleys and crews who move up to 30 pianos in a single week, the ‘impossible’ piano is our favourite kind. Most pianos (even the big German grands) will turn a 45-degree corner. The same instrument can go up or down stairs, out through a window, around obstacles, and yes, over a wall when that's genuinely what it takes.
So if you think your piano won't go, it almost certainly will. It isn't brute force. It's technique, the right equipment, and having done it thousands of times. Occasionally a piano genuinely can't come out the way it went in, and if that's the case we'll tell you honestly and explain the options. But the vast majority of the time, the piano everyone gave up on goes without drama.

We once moved 18 into a Town Hall
If you want proof we're not exaggerating: we were booked to move 18 grand and upright pianos upstairs into Huddersfield Town Hall for the world premiere of Christian Marclay's Investigations. Eighteen pianos, up the stairs, into a Grade-listed building, for a one-night performance.
So whatever's sitting in your front room, box room or cellar, send us a photo of the piano and the tight bit, and let us tell you how we'd get it out. We do enjoy a challenge.

The piano challenge: your questions
My last mover said it was impossible. Really?
Very often the ‘impossible’ piano just needs the right equipment and technique. Most pianos turn a 45-degree corner and can go up or down stairs; many can leave through a window or over a wall. Send us the details and we'll tell you honestly.
Can you get a piano over a wall or out of a window?
Yes. With the right kit and crew, window exits and over-wall lifts are part of what we do.
What if it genuinely can't be moved?
Then we'll tell you straight, explain why, and talk through the options, including licensed disposal if the piano's at the end of its life.
How do I take the challenge?
Send us a photo of the piano and the tricky access through the piano quote chat, or call 01484 538917.
